PHILADELPHIA, September 8 / Clean Markets, a leading market development firm expanding the U.S. market for clean-energy technologies, is among companies recognized as “Best for Workers” in the annual B the Change Media Best for World honoree list.
Best for Workers honorees are businesses ranked in the top 10 percent of more than 1,800 Certified B Corporations on the B Impact Assessment, a rigorous and comprehensive assessment of a company’s impact on its workers, community, customers and the environment.
Best for Workers honorees score highly in measurements that indicate how companies treat their workers, such as compensation, benefits, training and ownership opportunities. The category also focuses on overall work environment, measured through management/employee communication, job flexibility and worker health and safety practices, among other factors.
“At Clean Markets, our coworkers are a team, united by a cause that’s too significant to be described simply as our work,” said Ellen Lutz, Clean Markets Founder and CEO. “We’re all committed to the common cause of building market demand for clean energy products and services. I consider our employees to be extended family, and I treat them as I would want to be treated in an ideal workplace.”
Clean Markets specializes in executing marketing and outreach strategies for energy-efficiency and clean-energy programs, with clients that include electric and gas utilities, government agencies and energy firms. Since its inception in 2008, the company has played a major role in the development and implementation of many of the largest residential and commercial energy-efficiency programs in the Mid-Atlantic region.
In recent years, Clean Markets has trained thousands of utility trade allies, managed hundreds of customer and media events, written dozens of thought-leadership articles and provided direct consultation to more than 1,500 utility customers.
Clean Markets is certified as a woman-owned business by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the largest third-party certifier of businesses owned, controlled and operated by women in the United States.
More than 1,800 Certified B Corporations are found across 120 industries and 42 countries, unified by the common goal of redefining success in business. Certified B Corporations are part of a growing global movement of people using business as a force for good, earning profits while working to solve some of the world’s most pressing social and environmental problems.
“The companies we are honoring as the best for the world represent the cutting edge of a global movement using business as a force for good. We are inspired by them, and feel deeply honored to join them in this historic and ground-breaking celebration,” said Bryan Welch, CEO of B the Change Media, the multi-platform media company that publishes the quarterly B Magazine. Honorees are featured in the fall issue of B Magazine.
B the Change Media today released separate lists recognizing companies in the overall Best for the World category, as well as: Best for the Community, Best for Customers and Best for the Environment.
